Protein Crops

Protein Crops

The term "protein crops" was proposed in France by INRA researchers in the 70s to refer, by analogy with the term "oleaginous", to cultures of the legume family, rich in protein, which could replace the imported animal feed supplement of soybean grain. Subsequently this term was adopted in European regulations and includes five cultivated species : dry peas, faba bean, white lupin, yellow lupin and narrow-leaved lupin.
